I have a friend who describes the experience as getting lost down an “internet hole”. The same thing often happens to me.
You’ll hear something mentioned that grabs your interest so you google it and end up on the relevant Wikipedia article. Take for example – looking at my recent search history – the actor John Hurt.
There will be a link to something else on that page that interests you, so you click it. Then you follow a link on the next page. And the next page. And the next page. You may have started reading about the actor John Hurt but thirty minutes later you’re staring at your phone reading about the migratory pattern of the humpback whale (quite a distance, it turns out).
These are the articles for you. The things you didn’t know and almost certainly didn’t think you needed to know. But you do, as you have a curious mind. So disappear down that hole.
